Thru things like age, upbringing and location I suppose I should be unable to agree with the sitting president on anything really. And I know there are those people who think that whatever the president thinks is undoubtedly wrong. So with no small amount of relish I get to announce: I agree with the aims of the president's immigration reform package. And I like the broad outlines of the Senate Judicary Bill that's headed to the floor soon.
Highlights:
  • illegal immigrants who pay a $1,000 fine and back taxes would be able to apply for a three-year work visa, renewable for a second three-year period. In the fourth year of work, the visa holder could begin a five-year path toward citizenship.
  • it would not make illegal immigrants and those who assist them into felons, nor would it authorize the construction of massive new walls along 700 miles of the southern border.
So the first point, i'm unsure about. I don't know how doable $1,000 is to the average day laborer who's sending as much money as he can back to the family, if anyone can find these numbers and let me know, I'd be more than happy to spread the word. On the other hand, this is basically amnesty for illegals, something I'm all for. And for the second point I have this to say: Who do you think is building this wall?

As a tangent; Yeah, my alma mater kicks ass.

And now courtesy of the DailyWTF. Amazing simply amazing. For the non-nerds out there (We are watching, just to let you know) This is about equivalent of the wikipedia not requireing a login to edit with a link that says "Delete article" on every article. Yeah, that bad.

Disturbing, yet incredibly fun

I play Puzzle Pirates, as should you. However the forums can be really weird, but in particular a thread that led me to this flash doohicky-game. It's called "Don't Shoot the Puppy" and is a perfect combonation of cute and fuzzy and howitzers. But if you ever look me up on Puzzle Pirates (Why haven't you downloaded the client yet?) Make sure to go to the Midnight ocean/server and look for either Temujin or Temmybear.

I like to cha-cha. But between the dancing and the leg workout, I can't feel anything below my knees. Oh, and having time to spend with attractive women, even if only 20ish minutes, is most pleasant.

That is all, you may go.

Roffel Lemao Et Cetera

This is something simply amazing to me. So as a warning to everyone, never do IT in OK, maybe anywhere but it does pay well most places. I'm still in shock, both over the level of ignorance and beligerancy from the City Planner and the general graciousness and polity of the IT guru. I really hope that man is on the left side of the bell curve. The implications of him being at the center or the right is simply depressing.

I'm going to start collecting the news stories of a particular week and posting links to them on saturday. This starts tomorrow, to excuse today. Any particular stories that get my interest will of course go up that day, but in general staurdays are link-fests.

That is all, you may go.

A most interesting day

And I would maim what ever Chinese bastard came up with "Interesting Times."

If today had stayed as mundane as it started, this post would be much shorter. But it didn't, so this isn't. But the mundane must be said, if for no other reason than confusing far future historians. Mundane: Class, less than spectacular midterm result, class, Free Culture thingy (Well done Dani!), a painfully bad presentation on Sailing tech cicra Age of Discovery. Then things decide to get interesting.

Long story short, (I am not posting the details for a few reasons; I can't remember them with enough accuracy, they are more causes than effects, I'd rather not go back over them) I end up in desperate need of finding myself. And I have if not found myself, I at least know where I started and what direction I went in. And since I don't really trust me to not get in the way, I'm going to make sure that I don't sleep tonight. I should be okay for the midterm tomorrow morning, and then things will start getting enlightening.

That is all, you may go.

Stuff happened somewhere. Here isn't one of those places.

I went to the gym today. I did about 2/3rds of my standard leg workout before losing interest. Or maybe the desire to keep hurting my legs.

Earlier I got together with the history group and did almost no work for the presentation that is to be given tomorrow. I feel sorta ambivalent about that, but I feel sorta ambivalent about that class.

I receive the grade for my Microeconomics midterm tomorrow, let the non-audience know how that went. I have my reservations on success.

That is all, you may go.

Masochism, or maybe just a hobby

First some slight back story: When the floor of the dorm returned from spring break a couple-few people brought back some Magic: The Gathering cards. So I email NoVA and ask them to ship up all visible Magic cards. This was foolish for a few reasons;
1) I have a goodly number of cards
2) I am a bit of an addict to these things (which is why I avoided them greatly for the past few years)
3)I find 2/3rds of the fun to be in building and tweaking the decks. So I can easily spend hours and hours just on the basis of noticing a card with an interesting effect.
4)I may have to adjust my profile and the phrase about active geekdom.

Anyways, this may do more harm to my GPA than Civ 4. But since the impact is probably no more than a few slept thru classes, none with quizes etc, that says fairly little.

[Insert Pause here]

So now I'm searching for a periodic casual game in the area. *sigh* this is a bad sign. Oooh! Praise to Google :)

[Insert another pause]

Okay, post over. I'm too easily distracted by this.

That is all, you may go.

New blog. Yay. Old blog is (hopefully) lost to everything but the Google Cache. And so it is. And there was much rejoicing.

Got a midterm back today, 19/20 in Macroeconomics. And I considered the exam to be particuarly difficult. No idea about Micro, but certain aspects of me are fearful. Of course those aspects normally are, so their fear is of limited concern.

/. made me sad to day with this. I wanted a new futurama. Of course I still want the old futurama. That is all, you may go.
